Class IV Laser Therapy
At Maxwell Veterinary Physiotherapy, we use a high-powered SpectraVet Class IV laser to provide laser therapy.
The Benefits:
Class IV laser therapy is a non-invasive, pain free medical treatment that relieves pain, reduces inflammation and accelerates natural healing processes. It can also support tissue repair, and improve comfort and mobility.
It may be used in combination with pharmaceutical pain relief or may be an alternative for some patients.
Laser therapy also has a strong evidence in wound healing, which can be beneficial for surgical wounds or conditions such as lick granulomas.
How it Works:
Laser therapy works through a process called photobiomodulation, using light energy to stimulate cellular metabolism and increase ATP production. This helps to support the body’s natural healing processes, improve circulation and helps to regulate the body’s inflammatory response by reduction the chemical signals that contribute to inflammation and pain.
It also helps to relieve pain by reducing nerve sensitivity and encouraging the release of pain-relieving chemicals, such as endorphins. These effects help to reduce discomfort, support mobility and improve healing processes.
